Africa and Eastern Asia.
ABOUT READING CORNERS PROJECT
In 2011, the number of student who could read and write had reduce
tremendously, this showed a clear need to capture the young minds at
pre-school, introduce the 3 key skills, reading, writing and arithmetic.
Hassan Maajar Trust is keen on piloting a pre-school furniture program in providing innovative and
furniture designed specifically for pre-scholars for the classroom and ‘Reading
Corners’ within the classroom.
By
innovative design we mean taking into consideration the age and physical built
of a pre-scholar, using colour and texture to stimulate the brain etc.
These ‘Reading Corners’ create a new and
conducive learning environment for the children and in turn encourage them to
read more thus improving their vocabulary, reading and writing skills as well
as arithmetic skills.
This project targeted students in pre-school and those of standard 1-4.
The ‘Reading Corners’ is set up at the back of the classroom
due to lack of classroom buildings in the schools.
