KIGOMA HANDOVER

Last weekend we were in Kigoma, where we handed over 300 desks and teachers’ tables and chairs to two schools: Simbo Primary School and Machazo Primary School.

The event was held at Simbo Primary School and hosted by the school’s Head Teacher. The school grounds had the air of celebration and jubilation as the children and their parents danced and sang with excitement of the events to come. The District Commissioner as the Guest of Honour attended the event, he was accompanied by the District Education Officials, Parent Teacher Association members and Community Elders and Parents.
Speaking at the event our Vice Chair, Mr. Shariff H Maajar said, “our dream has always been to improve the learning environment in schools and it will remain the same”.  He continued to say, “HMT was started out on the basis of making significant change in our communities and today I am very happy to be standing amongst my fellow community members in Simbo donating these desks which I know will make a significant change in the lives of many children in this great community.

The event was closed with a vote of thanks from the Guest of Honour, who commended HMT’s efforts in improving the learning environment in schools in the country. He said “we as a community we should support institutions such as Hassan Maajar Trust, which work towards developing our communities, so thank you HMT for this generous donation”.

This was handover was very special one to HMT, as Kigoma is where Hassan comes from.
