Vodacom Tanzania Donates Computers and Laptops to Hassan Maajar Trust's First ICT Classroom

July 14th 2015, Shimbwe, Moshi:  Vodacom Tanzania donated 20 laptops and 20 Desktop Computers to Shimbwe Secondary School in Moshi, Kilimanjaro region. The units were donated to an ICT classroom, which was set up by Hassan Maajar Trust (HMT) as part of their pilot program on improving and providing access to ICT to students in Secondary Schools. 

Speaking at the soft handover ceremony held at the school, the Vodacom Moshi representative said " this program is special to Vodacom as we are keen to ensure children have access to technology to aid learning and introduce the ICT curriculum

Thanking Vodacom, HMT's Executive Director, Mrs. Zena Tenga said, " HMT started this Computer Room as pilot project to introduce ICT to schools. We had few laptops from another sponsor and these from Vodacom have completed this Computer Room which will benefit the Shimbwe Secondary school students and as well the community”, she then added “on behalf of our Trustee I commend Vodacom for the work they in improving the quality of education in Tanzania”.


The event was well received by the teachers, students and village leaders who thanked HMT and Vodacom for supporting their school. “I would like to say thank you to Hassan Maajar Trust and Vodacom for their generous donation to our school” Mr. Constantine Jacob, Headmaster, Shimbwe Secondary School.
