The dinner gala aimed at reducing the shortage of school desks and chairs known as "Desk for Every Child"

Speaking at the gala, Ambassador Mwanaidi Sinare Maajar said "During the launch of the Hassan Maajar Trust in July this year, we promised that within six months since the launch, we will start campaigning with the aim of raising TShs 3 billion over the period of 2 to 3 years for the purchase of desks and chairs to primary schools with the aim of improving the quality of education in the country"

“Today, as we gather in this occasion, we are fulfilling our pursuit of reducing the shortages of desks and chairs in schools, as we celebrate 50 years of independence, esteem invited guests and partners in development, the number of desks and chairs in the country are shocking, our children need the best environment to get good education, this is the responsibility for each one of us in this occasion to participate in the fight against poor learning environment” Said Ambassador Maajar.

The purpose of this event is to encourage the entire community to see the need to contribute and improve learning environment of our schools which places an important role for our children to read and keep abreast

We have all witnessed how children suffer when they lack proper chairs and desks in schools; the quality education weakens without a better learning environment.

We Bank M in partnership with the Institute of HMT, as part of our community support "Corporate Social Responsibility" have recognize the importance of sponsoring this occasion so that we can join hands in improving the learning environment of our schools to ensure that our children are equipped with all the necessary in their learning. This campaign “A Desk for Every Child” plays an important role in the community and that is why Bank M is happy to sponsor.” Said Hon. Nimrod Mkono.

"The campaign will run under the name “A Desk for every child” and will be held in Tanzania and the United States.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, they show that primary schools have a shortage of desks and chairs of around 3 million. In regards to that, we are appealing to the whole community and all stakeholders to make efforts in solving this problem.

There is a possibility for every child in this country to sit on a proper desk or chair in the next two to three years, this matter requires commitment from every one of us regardless of the different fields in achieving this.

Despite this occasion, we will use other different ways to reach and collect donations, including the directly application from the public via phones and by contacting firms and donors within and outside the country to provide us with desk and chairs that are excellent and long endure.

“This problem is a shame to our nation and to our children, children are still sitting on the floor or on stones, bricks and things of that kind, while us parents have kept ourselves blind and leaving it to the government to deal with it, if we all join together and pull our energies in partnership with government this problem will largely be solved within a short period of time,” said Ambassador Maajar.
